You've taken the first step by WANTING to be.
Next step is to focus on helping your prospects. To me it has always been about finding out if what I had to offer was of any use to them. If it wasn't I got out of their way or recommended something else that might help.
Once you get to the point where you know you have something that could help them you may find you have some competition (one of which may be procrastination) that's when you need to sell. That becomes a matter of focusing on their criteria and speaking your prospect's language.
