You use the word "skill".
Skill is something that you do like skating, golfing, playing tennis, driving a car.
The thing with a skill is that we normally learn it off a mentor and we get better with PRACTICE.
That's right PRACTICE.
It's important to practice the right skills otherwise you are just getting better at doing the wrong things. Hence the need for a mentor or coach.
