OK. I did it !


I had been delaying for some time but four weeks ago I got the tenants to leave my house.


It wasn't easy for me to do because they were good tenants for about 30 months, then changed ?


There had been warning signs that they were on a downward spiral but I had been hoping they would return to how they had been before.


But ...urged by my renting agent, I acted.


My wife and I live away from the city now, running a small business on the coast about two hours south of Sydney.
We had been renting out our home for nearly five years.


We went to the house a few weekends ago.


Oh, my God!
I didn't know it was possible for people to be that dirty.


On the positive side the house wasn't trashed.
I mean there weren't holes in the walls or doors kicked in.
But it saddened me to see our home so dirty and neglected.


And, we were astounded to find out the tenants had brought in professional cleaners for 2 days BEFORE we saw it !


So, we spent the next three days cleaning the house.


The back lawn was 3 feet (1M) high.
The pool was more like an aquaponics experiment.
Who said, "It's not easy being green".
And get this, the garden shed in the backyard was full of dead plants the tenants had removed from the gardens.
I mean stacked full!
A 2M x 3M shed!


Anyway, my wife and I did what we could but had to get back down the coast to our business.


We brought in a gardener (for the back lawn, too long to mow), painters, electricians, carpenters and carpets cleaners, again.


Now, the bills are rolling in.


It's my own fault really.
I should have got the tenants out earlier...
I still can't understand what happened to change the way they were looking after our home?
